Dental AI BAA check: what 40 vendors publish
We read what 40 AI tool vendors for dental practices publish about HIPAA business associate agreements (BAAs) and prices. Sources checked through 2026-10-16.
What this is and isn't: a desk review of public vendor pages. "Vendor-stated BAA" means the vendor says it signs one; we haven't seen the signed contracts. "No BAA statement found" means we didn't find one on the pages we checked; it isn't proof that none exists. We haven't tested any tool hands-on yet. This isn't legal advice: get a signed BAA before any patient data flows to a tool.
Key findings
- 22 of 40 vendors state they will sign a BAA. We found no BAA statement for 17, and 1 says it isn't HIPAA-compliant.
- 6 of 40 publish the actual BAA text: Weave (AI Receptionist), DeepCura, Freed AI Scribe, Denti Note, Scribeberry, Dental Intelligence.
- 20 of 40 don't publish prices; 20 do.
- 12 of 40 both state a BAA and publish prices. 10 do neither.
- No tool scored above 70 out of 85; the median is 46. Accuracy testing (15 points) hasn't happened yet for any tool, so these are paperwork and transparency scores, not performance verdicts.
